CeCe’s brings surreal Italian dining experience to Notting Hill this week

A new Italian restaurant, CeCe’s, opened its doors in Notting Hill this week. The venture is the latest project from Phil Winser, James Gummer and Olivier Van Themsche of the Public House Group, and restaurant aims to offer a distinctive dining experience by combining elements of classic Italian cuisine with a unique interior design and atmosphere.

CeCe’s is situated in a building that previously operated as a pub, and the new owners have transformed the space into a two-floor restaurant. According to the team, the design is intended to evoke both opulence and intimacy, with an emphasis on what they describe as a sense of secrecy and escapism. The interiors feature surreal décor, with a notable copper door serving as a focal point.

The menu is based on traditional Italian dishes, with some influences from Hollywood. Among the highlights are Aubergine Parmigiana, Fonduta Agnolotti and Chicken Vignole. The wine list will include a range of European and American classics, and larger format bottles will be available for guests who wish to share.

Van Themsche explained the inspiration behind the project, saying: “Initially we looked at the space as it was once a pub, but we fell in love with the glamour and unique design. The surreal interiors and character hidden behind the copper door inspired us to create a restaurant that felt current and exciting, whilst retaining the allure of traditional hospitality.”
