KOL turns six with one-night Mexican feast starring four top London chefs
London restaurant KOL will celebrate its sixth anniversary on Sunday 18th October with a one-night dinner on Seymour Street in Marylebone. Chef-patron Santiago Lastra will be joined by four London chefs, each reinterpreting a Mexican dish using British seasonal produce.
The guest chefs are Margot Henderson of Rochelle Canteen, Jeremy Lee of Quo Vadis, Chet Sharma of BiBi and Gymkhana, and Tomos Parry of Brat and Mountain. Each will create a dish rooted in classic Mexican flavours but shaped by their own cooking style. Lastra, whose Michelin-starred restaurant opened in 2020, will contribute a dish of his own that reflects how KOL’s cooking has developed since then.
For the evening, the ground-floor dining room will be cleared of its usual tables and chairs to make room for four additional live cooking stations. Guests will be served a welcome drink from Gut Oggau, a natural, biodynamic wine producer based in Burgenland, Austria, followed by five dishes. The event will then move downstairs, where the KOL team will serve a signature cocktail and a selection of further drinks will be available to buy.
Speaking about the anniversary, Lastra said: “Since opening in 2020, KOL has grown enormously. The menu and service are continually evolving, but our dream remains the same: to share the soul of Mexico using locally sourced ingredients.
“I’m incredibly grateful to our team and to every guest who has supported and believed in us over the past six years. Being able to do what I love alongside my team, and to use fine dining as a way to express ourselves and share our art is something I never take for granted. I’m really looking forward to celebrating with four amazing chefs who have been a great support over the past six years, who I deeply admire, and who represent a true legacy in London’s restaurant world.”
The evening reflects KOL’s kitchen philosophy, which pairs Mexican cooking techniques and flavours with ingredients sourced in Britain. It will be applied here by chefs from a range of London kitchens, from the British cooking of Quo Vadis and Rochelle Canteen to the Indian food of BiBi and Gymkhana and the open-fire cooking at Brat.
The event is split into two sessions, running from 6pm to 8pm and from 8pm to 10pm, with the downstairs gathering following on. Tickets cost £135 per person and cover the glass of Gut Oggau, the five dishes and the cocktail. Other drinks are charged separately on the night. Numbers are limited, and tickets will be released only through the KOL newsletter at 5pm on Monday 28th September.
