Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black return as Jumanji escapes into the real world this Christmas

The world of Jumanji is about to get a little closer to home. With Jumanji: Open World arriving in cinemas this Christmas, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are preparing for one final adventure, as the franchise turns its familiar premise on its head.
Having survived the dangerous jungles of Jumanji in the previous two films, the characters now face a rather different challenge. Instead of being transported into the game, they must contend with its chaos spilling into the real world, bringing the unpredictable dangers of Jumanji into everyday life.
The returning cast also includes Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain and Madison Iseman, alongside Nick Jonas and Danny DeVito. Jake Kasdan, who directed both Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, is back behind the camera, with a screenplay co-written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.
The film marks the conclusion of the modern Jumanji trilogy, which began in 2017 when Welcome to the Jungle reinvented the premise of the original 1995 Robin Williams film for a new generation. Rather than a mysterious board game, the reboot introduced a video game that pulled its players into the bodies of very different characters, creating much of the comedy through its unlikely cast of avatars.
Seven years after The Next Level, the final instalment reverses that idea, bringing the adventure into the characters’ own world. A newly released trailer offers a further look at what happens when the game’s dangers can no longer be left behind simply by escaping the console.
