Black Doves lights up London with spectacular drone show ahead of season two premiere

Netflix lit up the London skyline on Monday night with a spectacular drone show celebrating the return of Black Doves, starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire.

A fleet of 800 drones – the largest ever flown over the Thames – illuminated the night sky with imagery and messages inspired by the hit spy thriller, ahead of its second season arriving on Netflix on 5^th November. Cast and creatives gathered at Woods Quay to watch the display, following a fireworks photocall overlooking the capital.

The six-part new season sees Knightley return as Helen, a politician’s wife secretly passing government intelligence to the mysterious Black Doves organisation. With her husband Wallace (Andrew Buchan) preparing to become Prime Minister, her double life is becoming increasingly dangerous.

Meanwhile, her handler Mrs Reed (Lancashire) faces a ruthless power struggle, forcing Helen to reunite with her assassin best friend Sam (Whishaw), now reduced to low-level hits and lonely nights in Soho bars. Together, they find themselves caught in another deadly web of secrets, betrayals and old enemies.

The returning cast includes Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland and Gabrielle Creevy, while One Day star Ambika Mod joins as Laila, an anarchic Black Doves agent. Scream favourite Neve Campbell, Sam Riley and Babou Ceesay are also among the newcomers.

Created by Joe Barton, the darkly comic thriller promises more twists, high-stakes espionage and the complicated friendship at its heart, with London once again providing the backdrop for the action.
