Chic Freak takes centre stage at Portobello Road

Chic Freak takes centre stage at Portobello Road

In a hidden treasure cove on the busy street of Portobello Road, popular for antique and vintage wares, a new store Chic Freak launched its opening and The Upcoming was delighted to attend.

The quaint boutique store was filled with people, both inside and outside, supporting the work of the owner and buyer Tamarisk, who is also a fashion designer. Everyone was gushing over Tamarisk’s success and the beauty of each piece of unique clothing over the flowing champagne and sushi. 6

We noticed how the Chic Freak store cleverly stood out amongst other boutique stores, especially in the surrounding area, which is difficult to achieve with so much competition in the same market. However, this store is like no other ordinary clothing boutique. Apart from the unusual but stunning costumes, the actual store is set out in a theatrical theme.

There are rails with clothes or “costumes” as Tamarisk labels them, and the walls are painted a seductive wine red colour. At the back of the store behind a curtain there is a mirror and the opportunity to have your make-up done as if “back-stage” of a theatre. 20

Chic Freak clothing line includes designs from House of Harlot, Beautiful Soul, Claudine London, as well as Tamarisk’s own line and much more.

A toast was made to mark the success and prepare for London Fashion Week and the young designer showcase award. It is easy to see why the store has been named so appropriately, with the unique and adventurous clothing made in a classy and tasteful manner, which gives the wearer a “chic freak” role to play.
