Press Day: MLPR high summer and autumn/winter 2013 collections

This morning we found ourselves outside of Mayfair’s stylish Westbury hotel for the MLPR high summer and A/W 13 press day. It showcases some of the fashion world’s trendiest and contemporary designers and labels, such as Eley Kishimoto, Beaumont Organic, Ronen Chen, Toft Alpaca, Princesse Tam Tam, Lucie Campbell, Emmy Shoes, Pistol Panties and Madeleine Thompson.

Designer Alice Keswick’s latest collection for Wondaland will have you eager for autumn to arrive before summer does. Overflowing with gothic velvet fabrics, sheer chiffons, bold prints and soft metallics, Wondaland’s nod to the sports luxe trend for A/W 13 continues to blend contemporary cool with flashes of femininity that the label does so well. Now in its sixth season, it’s no wonder that Wondaland has such a rapidly increasing fan base, including Sienna Miller and Poppy Delevingne.

Moving away from Wondaland’s glamorous offerings, British cashmere designer Madeleine Thompson’s self-titled label served up some seriously chic and sophisticated pieces. Since launching in 2006, Madeleine Thompson has produced three womenswear collections a year and is stocked by online retail powerhouses Net-a-Porter, MyWardrobe and Asos. For S/S 13, Madeleine Thompson even created a neon yellow cashmere capsule collection exclusive to Net-a-Porter. However a real stand-out piece from the A/W collection is the Margot jumper, very different from the acid-bright colours from S/S. Available in a soft dove grey and an inky black, the beautiful texture of the fabric adds a luxurious twist to a simple style.

Pistol Panties’ 2013 Copacabana collection was Carmen Miranda-esque with eye-catching animal prints, tropical palm trees and vivid block colours. The fruity addition to the showroom was a breath of fresh air and with so many different options to suit a variety of shapes and sizes, Pistol Panties could potentially be the one-stop shop this summer for all those necessary beachwear essentials.

Based in the fashionable London area of Islington, Emmy Shoes’ founder Emmy Scarterfield uses soft and supple Italian and Spanish leathers to create timeless and classic bespoke pieces. With their delicate, elegant and exquisite designs, Emmy Shoes’ feminine collection could’ve been lifted straight out of The Great Gatsby. The level of detail on these vintage-inspired heels goes beyond amazing, from heavy embellishments to soft and pretty bows, perfect for a cocktail party or dinner date.

Whatever your budget or style, each of the designers and brands showcased have something to offer everyone and whether the look you want to achieve is vintage, luxury glamour or girly and chic, these are definitely some names you want to bear in mind until payday.
