House of Halos: Glimmering gothic glamour
Gazing at every one-of-a-kind item, we were dazzled by the glamorous couture pieces as they glided down the runway. The House of Halos event took place at The Penthouse, 1 Leicester Square here in London on the 4th June, and it was a spectacular evening.
Each piece was carefully placed on the models to accentuate their beauty. The collection of gleaming jewels was worn with extravagant Victorian inspired dresses with long intricate trails flowing elegantly to the floor. This, with a selection of creepy cupcakes, on site manicures and chart music was the House of Halos fashion showcase, and we were beyond excited to witness it.
Head and neck pieces were glamorously placed over the models while show girl style feathers transported us back to the flapper girls of the 1920s. The atmosphere was lively yet intimate as we attentively examined each well put together outfit descend past.
Aberdeen born Arlene Barclay is the designer behind this grandiose collection and, after 24 years in the business, she has uniquely merged hair accessories and jewellery with couture to create individual items that stand out and give an outfit that theatrical edge. In personally designing and crafting the pieces, the jewellery is impeccably made, each item displays elaborate detailing making it feel characteristic and distinct. The collection also includes elegant neck jewellery ranging from long layered beads to sparkling statement necklaces.
The items comprise of hand crafted hair accessories and jewellery ranging from small daytime, casual pieces to more exaggerated, striking ensembles. We personally love the individuality of the designs and the ever-enchanting gothic, Victorian inspiration behind them.
