After being awarded 2nd place for the innovation award at graduate fashion week, womenswear graduate Sadie Clayton has gone on to be signed by Lewis and Leigh PR where she plans to make it in the world of womenswear design.

Graduating from Kingston University, Sadie has collaborated with designers Galliano and Gareth Pugh and is now channelling her energy into her own fashion brand. Her graduate collection focuses on a metallic and mirroring affect. Combining plush fur pieces with gleaming metallics, she creates a futuristic yet chic fusion of art.

Her fashion film is a 43 second glimpse into an androgynous yet sleek visionary set against the backdrop of sophisticated and subtle music. We see a Grace Jones- esque model draped in bronze, silver and gold metallic pieces merged with soft black leather, black and white patterned clothes and extraordinarily shaped shoes! With the embodiment of lavish, sophisticated luxury, the outfits exude a strong dominance whilst still being feminine and classy. During the fashion short, a person is seen moving their upper body muscles to create dynamic and weird body shapes relating to the emphasis on shapes and sculpture throughout the collection.

With one dress being made of 2,000 plumbing copper brackets, the creativity of this collection is unique and innovative. Sadie has already wowed the fashion world, and speaking on her inspiration, she explains how “working in a vintage shop, I get to immerse myself in all the decades of fashion gone by that have influenced collections today. From shoulder pads to platforms, I just love playing with shape and scale in my own style too.” Sadie Clayton is definitely one to watch!
