Don’t break up with fashion after a break-up

Don’t break up with fashion after a break-up

BU1We know break-ups are hard and all you want to do is sit around in your PJs watching movies back-to-back, potentially accompanied by a tub of ice cream. Let’s face it, it’s a stereotype for a reason. However, this is just prolonging the inevitable moment when you realise that you can rock it single! So take a day to mourn, then get back on your bicycle and get going.

BU2Try an exercise class

Getting your toosh off the sofa is one thing, but trust us when we say that exercise will help more than you can possibly imagine, especially if you go to a class rather than flying solo on the treadmill, rethinking every second of your relationship. Make exercise fun to distract you a little bit and get fit at the same time. Zumba, yoga and pilates are all excellent options. We’ve picked out these Chandrasana Leggings (£49) from Sweaty Betty, just because they’ll make you feel like a bit of a badass. Hey, so often it’s about the little things.

BU3Party classy

Definitely go out, party, have a good time. But there’s no need to slut it up. In this situation, more is more. We’ve selected this John Zack Midi Dress (£30) because it’s sexy, but classy as hell. Opt for a pair of suave heels, go easy on the make-up, add a leather jacket and have a glass of wine in a swanky bar. Come on, you’re all wise and mature now. Leave the alcopops and clubbing for the pre-relationship singles.

BU4Get some sexy lingerie… just because you can

At the end of the day, sexy lingerie really isn’t for the boyfriend’s benefit. He’ll lose his words whether you’re wearing lingerie or nothing. Those carefully crafted folds of lace and material are sculpted so you look and feel amazing. We’ve selected this Cara Black Set (£46) from Ann Summers. Wear this cheeky lingerie set underneath your work clothes. It’s a saucy secret that will make you feel super sexy all day, and that confidence alone will turn heads.

BU5Don’t have a hair revolution

You might be tempted to “create a new you” and dye or cut your hair in a drastic way. Our advice would be to simply, not. Firstly, the look you have right now is probably the one that suits you best, seeing as you’ve probably been rocking it for a while. If you go for a sudden colour change, or if you go for spontaneous layers or a fringe, it might not suit you and it’ll be a bit obvious what your post-break up train of thought is. Instead, play with make-up. Never wear lippy? Try natural eyes and a bright red lip. It wipes off at the end of the night, but is still an exciting new look.

Pamper yourself

This one is a given, but it’s important to do everything within your power to feel good about yourself, inside and out. Eat healthy, look after your teeth, hair and skin, and take time for yourself. This is a time when we encourage you to be positively selfish, so we’ve selected this scrummy (and discounted!) Dove Shea Butter Set (£8.44) for the job. Enjoy!

BU7Friends forever

All in all, it’s getting up to no good with your pals that are going to get you through this. Take trips and have simple fun. Go to the beach, have a movie night, go to the zoo or even just out for dinner. Spend time with the people that love you as much as you can and have a laugh. We promise it’ll help.
