What do you do when you grow one year older? Throw a party, of course. Because when it’s your birthday, it’s the bigger, the better. That is exactly what JFW Magazine did to celebrate their fifth anniversary in business. Boy did they party, and from the packed-out crowd, it looks like everyone had a great time partying too.

We had a chat with the editor-in-chief of JFW Magazine, Wilhelmina Sahuleka, who was more than excited about the party: “It’s great; the whole editorial team is here for the celebration.”ANT_4402

The venue was the Mahiki bar in London. The party was tropical with a Samoan, Hawaiian summer feel which was really appreciated by the guests who were more than happy to get out of the cold. Even though it was boring, dark and wet outside – JFW’s anniversary party made it exciting, hot and sunny inside, thus, bringing the summer back to London.

When asked about the choice of the interesting venue and setting, Wilhelmina says: “Because it’s a great location and easy to get to for people who came from work.” This proved to be a great choice, as the party had a light, bright atmosphere and a warm, comfortable feel.

Though it is the magazine’s fifth anniversary in London, JFW has actually produced issues internationally for many years, branching in countries like the Netherlands and Hong Kong. While known for being an accessories specialist magazine, JFW talk about all kinds of jewellery and watches all over the world, as well as fashion and haute couture.

When asked about the future for the magazine in 20 years, Wilhelmina simply says: “For it to be never ending. We want the magazine to continue but also go into a more lifestyle direction that talks about the women behind the jewellery and watches. Here we’re not just talking about the watch but the woman who is wearing the watch as well as their power, their life and their ideas.”

Cocktails, photographers, speeches and appetisers; one can only wonder what JFW is going to do to celebrate their 50th birthday.
