British Fashion Council has announced British comedian David Walliams as the host of this year’s British Fashion Awards.

English actress Gemma Arterton, radio presenter Nick Grimshaw and TV presenter George Lamb are among those who have previously hosted the event.

David Walliams, actor, author and TV personality mostly known for his role in Little Britain alongside Matt Lucas is excited about the opportunity to host one of the year’s most important fashion events.

“I’m thrilled to have been asked to present this year’s British Fashion Awards. It’s a wonderful way to recognise some of Britain’s best talent and a night not to be missed!”

Since its launch in 1989, the British Fashion Awards has become one of the industry’s most prestigious award ceremonies organised by the British Fashion Council.

Talented designers and models will have the chance to win the awards on 2nd December in 15 different categories, including Model of the Year and International Designer of the Year. Previous years’ winners include Stella McCartney, who won Designer of the Year in 2007 and Christopher Bailey, who bagged the prize for Menswear Designer of the Year in 2008.

Simone Rocha, Mary Katrantzou,Victoria Beckham and Raf Simons are among the likely contenders for this year’s event.
