Barbara Bonner: more than just a bag

The Barbara Bonner handbag has been developed from a unique mix of culture and life experiences, pertaining to its designer. Born in Italy, Bonner was a keen traveller in her youth, visiting many inspirational cities. These have, in turn, influenced her creative aesthetic and have drawn the originator to produce extraordinary pieces.BarbaraBonner1

Having studied psychology after leaving school, Bonner’s career path was redirected to fashion, leading to courses both in Milan and London. Her handbags have now gained great recognition, with celebrity followers such as Poppy Delevingne, Kate Moss and Olivia Palermo, to name but a few, snapping them up.

Each bag represents a fashion statement in its own right, making use of striking animal skins and extravagant fringing to form an innovative accessory: designed in London and made in Italy. Bonner creates for the strong, independent woman, who desires a contemporary yet luxurious handbag. BarbaraBonner2

The spring/summer 2014 collection, Ice on Fire, takes inspiration from Bonner’s recent travels to Mexico and Los Angeles. With careful consideration of the cultural differences in each city, a romantic, feminine range has been devised. The use of natural materials – stones, such as agate, coral and tiger’s eye, alongside embossed denim, hand-plaited pony skin and iridescent python skins – results in an intriguing and matchless article. The colour palette includes rich orange, fawn and coral, juxtaposed with sky blue, silver and cream.

The collection, bursting with attractive textures and excitingly combined hues, sees a continuation of classic designs, for example the Fringed Lilith Shoulder Bag and Roxanne Clutches, together with new additions that include the Frida Bag and Andrea Backpack.

The hard-cased Frida showcases a chic exterior adorned with beautiful, multi-coloured python skin, to form a vivid, deluxe item. The solid gold frame is delicate and modish, able to hold essentials with ease. Its detachable gold chain, featuring diamond-shaped details, adds versatility to this edgy accessory, enabling it to be worn with many outfits. This sumptuous handbag undoubtedly defines the red carpet look.

Barbara Bonner is stocked in over 50 locations worldwide, including Selfridges, Barney’s, Feathers, Coggles and Luisaviaroma.
