White Lies: An interview with Harry McVeigh and Jack Lawrence-Brown

White Lies are an indie-rock, post-punk band with origins in Ealing. Three three-piece, who have been playing together since they were 15, have released four albums To Lose My Life…, Ritual, BIG TV and – last October –  Friends.

We caught up with them ahead of their Shepherd’s Bush Empire show, where they later performed a thrilling set. Harry McVeigh (lead vocals and guitar) and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums) were poised on a plump leather sofa, their body language nonchalant. We discussed their creative inspirations, a nostalgia for the success of 2009 and why Harry thinks cannabis should be legalised here in the UK.
