Strange World: On the red carpet with the cast and creatives

Disney’s latest animated family feature Strange World, is a culmination of humour, fantasy and action-packed adventure. It follows the Clade family of legendary explorers as they navigate their way through perilous terrain only to end up in land they never knew existed.

The film brings to screen a hugely diverse cast and a host of famous voice actors. In addition to this, the story brings in fantastical creatures who create spectacular visuals and in turn have a hand in the way the story unfolds.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to the cast and creatives on the red carpet at Cineworld in Leicester Square where the director Don Hall and writer Qui Nguyen revealed their inspiration behind the story, the legacy they wanted to leave and the importance of telling the story through the lens of three generations.

Producer Roy Conli talked to us about coming on board with the project, his past work on nature documentaries and the fantasy elements they all brought to screen.

Gabrielle Union spoke about the importance of having such a diverse and representative cast, her role as a voice actor in the movie and what she hoped viewers would take away.

Jaboukie Young-White chatted about his role as young Ethan Clade in the film, what that was like bringing that character to life and what he hopes viewers will take away from watching the family animation.

We also heard from Tony Robinson who was in attendance at the premiere.
