Scottish musician Kyle Falconer is releasing a new album titled The One I Love the Most on 7th February 2025, coinciding with Valentine’s Day festivities. The album, a compilation of reworked acoustic tracks named after women, spans Falconer’s musical career from his time with The View to his solo projects.

The lead single from the album, Angelina, introduces the collection with a blend of dramatic percussion and sweeping string arrangements, creating a cinematic tone to a narrative of a troubled relationship marred by differing truths.

This new release follows Falconer’s recent accolade, the King Tuts’ Songwriting Award at the Scottish Music Awards, recognising his influence and storytelling in music. Falconer’s songs often explore themes of love, regret and personal growth, often inspired by significant women in his life, blending real-life experiences with fictional storytelling.

The album The One I Love the Most includes tracks from Falconer’s extensive back catalogue, such as Claudia from The View’s debut album Hats Off To The Buskers and Dixie from the recent Exorcism of Youth. It also revisits songs from his solo albums No Thank You and No Love Songs For Laura, where tracks like Laura reflect his personal regrets and Kelly discusses more complex issues like gender identity.

The recording of the album took place at Falconer’s own studio, La Sierra Casa, near Alicante, Spain. Falconer produced the album himself, performing most of the vocals and instruments, with contributions from musicians Drew Palmer and Neeve Zahra.

La Sierra Casa is not just a recording studio but also a creative retreat hosting songwriting camps. These camps have attracted emerging artists and will welcome notable guest experts such as Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, Carl Barât of The Libertines, Jamie Webster and Laurie Vincent of Soft Play in future sessions.

Looking ahead, Falconer’s band The View is preparing for a Greatest Hits tour across Scotland, culminating in two performances at Glasgow’s O2 Academy. They are also slated to appear at several UK festivals next summer.

The One I Love the Most is currently available for pre-order, with several limited edition vinyl formats offered, including a special Obi Edition exclusively through Assai Records. Falconer expressed his creative vision for the album, stating, “I thought about all the girls’ names I had written about and thought it would be a great romantic idea to put them all in one place and release the record for Valentine’s Day. I wanted to show the songs as they were without all the production and we captured the first essence of them.”
