Swatch Scuba Libre: An underground launch

Swatch Scuba Libre: An underground launch

An exclusive launch of Swatch’s latest collection made for an exciting time in the form of underground adventures, a flash-mob choir and even a mermaid or two.

Beginning the journey at the Swatch St Paul’s store, champagne and bagels were passed around as members of the press drooled over copious amounts of watches. Although there were many appetising choices, the focus of the day was on theScuba Libre collection, a series of watches not just for rainy days.

You needn’t be a diver to take the plunge and wear the new collection, far from it in fact. The Scuba Libre range is for everybody. The tourist sailing the streets of the urban ocean, the commuter about to board a submarine subway to avoid being drenched in the unpredictable British weather, or the adventurer let loose on a Caribbean cruise.

With silicone straps for underwater durability and a dial that acts as a timer, these watches are also the perfect accessories for any secret sailor or for those who wish to delve into diving.

After the collection was unveiled at the luxury store, the press were led to the London underground to board a tube, where a choir burst into water-themed songs – including Oh I Do Like To be Beside the Seaside and Little Mermaid favourite Under the sea.

Adorned with seaside paraphernalia and newspapers, the carriage crowded around to hear the flash-mob style singing, which continued as press were led outside of the Oxford Street store for more songs and the public launch.

The perfect summertime accessory, it is almost a certainty that the choir won’t be the only ones singing and dancing about the Scuba Libre collection.
