Flore Nové-Josserand: Invites at Zabludowicz Collection

In a few words, Nové-Josserand’s exhibition at the Zabludowicz Collection can be described as ecstatically colourful, thought-provoking, and overtly postmodern.

The French-born but UK-based artist is notorious for telling stories of relationships in her work through recurring motifs and deceptive irregularities. Her current exhibition is some of the most aesthetically challenging work she’s created to date.

Although, there isn’t much personal information published about Nové-Josserand’s personal life, it seems to complement her overall style and approach to art. She remains faceless but yet still provides a prominent and familiar voice in all of her work. She takes herself, as a being, out of the equation and allows her work to express her opinions and views on all aspects of life in a poetic fashion.

Art is, in so many ways, subjective and people will take away what they will from Nové-Josserand’s exhibition. However, it can be said with confidence that the viewer can leave the exhibition feeling elements of deep reflection and perhaps even nostalgia.

After witnessing the display of intelligent colour arrangements splashed across oddly-constructed configurations against a pure white backdrop, it’s difficult not to comprehend something deeper and more fulfilling from this conceptual experience.
