Danielle Romeril collection presentation for LFW S/S 2016
The theme of Paradise Lost was apparent throughout the collection, with each piece telling its own individual story. Inspiration was taken from a series of multiple sources documenting African farmers, to photographs by Viviane Sassen also entitled Paradise Lost.
The collection was a vision of stark white fabric, pale pink linen and green palm print designs. Each piece kept within these guidelines but was molded differently to be unique. The detail in the fabric was in-line with the theme, as subtle snags could be seen along the lines of the palm trees, contrasting the strong lines of the silhouette.
Each item had depth to it, blocking different fabrics together to tell more of a story. Simple details spoke out here, especially knotting to dresses and sharp jacket lapels underneath feminine pinafores, both of which balanced certain lightness with a more formal undertone.
The models hosted contrasting looks, from a thick and bold streak of black eyeliner, to subtle and delicate highlighter and light pink blusher contouring the skin.
As part of the Topshop New Generation Programme, this certainly is a one to watch. With a raw aesthetic and many layers of depth to follow, Romeril’s collection manages to tell a story of undone beauty that remains elegant and sophisticated, easily making this a label which is sure to delight and surprise us in the future.
