Ulla Johnson spring/summer 2017 collection presentation for NYFW
Today New York based designer Ulla Johnson presented her spring/summer collection in an effortlessly elegant raw studio in West Village. The atmosphere of the presentation corresponded with her collection: it was cool, effortlessly chic, elegant and understated.
Johnson showcased 19 pieces inspired by her recent trip to South America, where she became enamoured with the style and spirit of the pampas.
It is not the first time when designer looks for inspiration and creative ideas at her traveling destinations. In the past she was recreating vibes of Peru and India folk into her models. Johnson, known for her organic approach to the business is used to do everything naturally, quietly, and effortlessly, but achieving big, chic attention capturing results. Today’s presentation was not an exception.
For spring/summer 2017 Ulla Johnson picked white, coral, pale yellow, pink, and lavender colours. She continues experimenting with shoes and carries on already popular style with exaggerated tassels and beaded straps. The influence of South America can be seen in full tulle skirts, ruffled necklaces, crochet and fringe.
She expands already popular trend of floral flowing dresses, oversized trousers, laced tops and crochet dresses worn with motorcycle jackets adding metal hardware and hand tied french knots embellishments. In some magical way her clothing feels ethnic and easy but chic, elegant and unique.
