The Irish designer stunned the audience once again. Gasps and sounds of amazement filled the air as Paul Costelloe’s models made way through the ball room of Waldorf hotel. Costelloe’s designs, although traditional, managed to seem relevant and belonging to today’s day and age.
The autumn/winter 2017 was a collection bold in spirit, bringing the forceful look of the Tudor period in the centre of attention, through exaggerated, lavish sleeves. The beautiful tailoring combined with the high-quality materials embodied a dominant, contemporary visual. Beneath the dresses or skirts of diverse lengths, carmine, cobalt blue or emerald leggings made out of English latex added a vigorous glow to the collection.
If the first day of LFW was wrapped around tones of soft pink, then Costelloe’s autumn/winter 2017 collection integrated strong shades of burgundy and smoky grey. Moreover, he inserted a dose of feminine allure through full-length, transparent dresses with silver floral patterns, amplified sleeves and paired with high-heeled ankle suede boots.
Diversity, high-quality fabrics, exquisite patterns encircled the collection, which empowered the modern youthful self, using the strong spirit of Tudorian courtesans from great Palaces. The avant-garde imposing show ended with entertained delight from the head designer, who performed a short dance accompanied by one of his models, putting a smile on everyone’s face.
