iPhone 8: Rumours, new features and production delay

Every year September brings us one of the most anticipated surprises of the year, the new iPhone. Close to its 10th anniversary, tech addicts and iPhone fans are speculating all around the worldwide web about features, product launch and hardware, without a definite conclusion. Besides, it seems like this time Apple will release – at the same time – the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. If you haven’t heard any of htese rumours yet, you are in the right place: we’ll bring you up to speed.

iPhone 8 launch date

No one is yet convinced that this year the iPhone 8 will be released in September. The actual motives for this delay are unknown, but most think it has to do with the fact that there’s a substantial production delay (three weeks). Maybe three phones in one go was a bit of an ambitious strategy.

Wireless charging

A lot has been said about the incorporation of wireless charging to the iPhone 8. However, it seems to be presented as a separate accessory for the phone and not as the only charging option. This said, the technology would use electromagnetic frequencies, and it’s meant to improve the wireless distance range in comparison with other methods of wireless charging, such as the well known “inductive” charging.

3D scanning

The redesigned iPhone 8 will substitute the classic fingerprint security system with a 3D face scan. This will be employed to make online payments as well as to unlock the phone or access apps. Its purpose? Mainly speed, but also accuracy. It might not change yet the experience with the most popular apps – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or games including Cube Slam, Polycraft – but in future we expect it to happen.

External design

The iPhone 8 is said to come in four different colors, including the very much demanded mirror-like version. The screen-to-body ratio will also improve, rumoured to be “the highest of any smartphone currently available”. This new feature will probably result in the removal of the home button from the front of the screen. There are also rumours about a virtual home button placed in the screen, but analysts suggest there might be problems incorporating this feature. Last but not least, Apple plans to size every model differently, and the Iphone 7s plus will be largest of them all.
