Three fashion-forward face mask tips

Three fashion-forward face mask tips

As face masks become a standard part of everyday life, they have also entered the ring as a new contender in the battle of unexpected fashion essentials.

And whilst masks have become an inconvenient necessity, it hasn’t prevented style gurus from finding creative ways to work them into just about any ensemble.

This article explores just three fashion hacks to help your face mask fit in with your fabulous style.

  1. Get matching

You can now get mask-dress combos made from the same fabric for a truly matching experience.

But if you don’t feel like paying through the nose for one of these perfect pairings, then to paraphrase Coco Chanel, every woman should have a little black mask.

This simple safety staple will go with just about anything and won’t temper the stylishness of your carefully curated wardrobe.

Another tip for matching your mask to your attire is to ensure you have plenty of versatile fashions on hand. No mask will ever detract from an ensemble that’s truly on-trend, so keep an eye on what’s hot – brands like Funky Fuchsia are ahead of the curve and offer a fabulous range for every occasion.

  1. Makeup on fleek

Everybody’s looking for the secret to makeup that survives under the mask – from powders to primers and of course the essential setting spray (Urban Decay’s already popular All-Nighter range has been a lifeline for many).

But it’s bad news for lipstick lovers as beauty bloggers focus their energy on fresh innovations in the world of eye makeup – in 2020, the goal is to make those peepers pop!

Neutrals never go out of style, whilst neon colours are a great way to maximise dramatic effect. And in the era of cat-eyes and cut creases, remember that falsies are your best friend when it comes to completing the look.

Or you could go for something completely off the wall, as YouTuber Jaime French did with her Tiny Face Challenge!

And remember – masking up means that your skincare routine is more important than ever right now.

  1. Get spooky

It’s never too soon to start planning for October 31st, and if there’s any occasion perfect for showing off a mask, it’s Halloween.

You could choose to keep it simple by spicing up your traditional witch or kitten costume with a matching mask – a set of whiskers should complete your look nicely.

Alternatively, choose a masked character like Hannibal Lecter, Jason Voorhees, or a simple Scream mask for a costume that’s safe and simple to put together. Otherwise, a set of bandages will create a quick mummy costume that isn’t all that different from the mask.

Of course, you don’t have to wait until Halloween to find your perfect mask – shop around for a cute print or try making your own. There are plenty of tutorials online and it’s not too hard to learn.

These are just three hacks for a strong mask game that won’t disrupt your vibe. Stay safe and stay stylish.
