Dune premiere: On the red carpet with Denis Villeneuve, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa and Rebecca Ferguson in Leicester Square

Dune is the much-anticipated fantasy epic from visionary director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049). Set in the far future, it follows a Duke and his son, Paul, who are trying to take control of a giant sandworm-infested desert planet, Dune, which is the only source of the most valuable product in the universe, spice.

Based on the seminal 60s sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert, Villeneuve’s film is the first of a two-part adaptation with a blistering ensemble cast led by Call Me By Your Name breakout star Timothée Chalamet as the story’s hero, Paul Atreides, opposite Oscar Isaac who plays his father, the Duke, plus Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling and Jason Momoa.

This week, the director and his cast hit the red carpet in London’s Leicester Square ahead of a special screening of the film.

Villeneuve spoke about how directing Dune was the fulfillment of a teenage dream, shared some of the challenges he faced and how he came to cast Chalamet in the lead.

Heartthrob Chalamet shared how excited he was for people to see the film on the big screen and what it was like working with his director and co-star Zendaya.

Zendaya gave some insight into what it was like on set with Chalamet and Villeneuve and shooting Dune’s desert scenes.

Rebecca Ferguson spoke about how her character differed from the way it was written in the book and what it was like working on the movie.

Jason Momoa gave his take on the movie, the director and cast as well as what it’s like playing badasses.

Sharon Duncan-Brewster explained why she thinks the film needs to be seen on a big screen and what it was like filming in the sand.
