Gordon Ramsay’s River Restaurant to feature on new season of The Savoy docuseries

The new season of docuseries The Savoy will air on ITV next Wednesday 15th June, this time featuring Gordon Ramsay’s seafood venue, The River Restaurant. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the way the hotel and its restaurant operate.

Nestling in the heart of The Savoy, the restaurant’s art deco room has played host to high society for over 100 years. New life has been breathed into this impressive space, whilst the executive chef Andrew Sawyer ensures guests are treated to some of the freshest and finest seafood Britain has to offer. His inspirational menus celebrate the very best seasonal produce available in the UK and are constantly evolving, with a same-day sea-to-plate approach.

Ramsay’s restaurants take pride in using exclusively responsibly sourced seafood from the British Isles, employing an in-house fishmonger who prepares and serves each piece of fish in less than 24 hours from the moment it’s caught. “The UK has some of the finest shellfish and seafood in the world,” says Gordon Ramsay, “I’m delighted we are showcasing all of this amazing produce from across the UK and supporting the hardworking providers too. The Savoy is an incredibly special hotel and, honestly, I have no doubt that The River Restaurant is one of the best seafood restaurants in London right now.”

With a clean style of cooking that showcases the main ingredients, executive chef at the new restaurant, Andrew Sawyer adds a twist of playfulness and nostalgia to all his creations. Menu highlights include Tandoori Spiced Monkfish served with golden crispy pakora and fragrant curry sauce, and Cider-Battered Rock with fresh peas and a warm tartare sauce, as well as the show-stopping Chilled Dressed Shellfish Platter, consisting of lobster, crab, scallop, mussels, oysters and clams. Desserts include a signature dish of Mango and Coconut Knickerbocker Glory, which took inspiration from childhood memories of eating ice cream with his brother.

Sawyer says: “I’m over the moon to have joined the Gordon Ramsay team and to lead the brigade here at The River Restaurant. Fish is my greatest passion in cooking, and I’ve spent years learning the intricacies and skills behind sourcing and serving the very best fish available. We’ve such great respect for the ingredient and the processes we put in place, and you won’t get finer seafood in London.”
