The eagerly anticipated A24 film, Problemista, written and directed by Julio Torres, has finally announced its UK release date. Scheduled for a digital download release on 8th July 2024, this film marks an impressive debut for Torres, who is also known for his work on Saturday Night Live and Los Espookys. The movie stars Torres himself, alongside a distinguished cast including Academy Award-winner Tilda Swinton, Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Greta Lee and features narration by Isabella Rossellini.

Set in the bustling city of New York, Problemista follows the story of Alejandro, portrayed by Torres, an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador. Faced with the imminent expiration of his work visa, Alejandro finds himself struggling to bring his imaginative ideas to life. His last hope to remain in the US and achieve his dream hinges on securing a job that requires him to assist an unpredictable figure in the art world. This narrative promises to take viewers on a surreal journey through the perilous landscapes of New York City and the US immigration system.

The feature, produced by Julio Torres along with Dave McCary, Ali Herting and Emma Stone, aims to provide a unique blend of comedy and drama, navigating through the complexities of the American dream and the relentless pursuit of one’s aspirations against the odds.
