London’s Sky Garden Fenchurch Restaurant unveils major makeover

London’s Sky Garden, home to the Fenchurch Restaurant on its 37th floor, has recently completed an extensive makeover, overseen by Head Chef Kerth Gumbs. The upgrade not only introduces a fresh aesthetic and a spring menu but also unveils a new counter dining experience. The revamp, a year after Kerth Gumbs’ partnership with Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, emphasizes the restaurant’s evolution.

The renovation brings a vibrant, tropical theme to the dining area, influenced by Gumbs’ Caribbean heritage, offering a blend of colour, botanical lighting, and playful creativity. It aims to transport guests to a tropical oasis, creating a distinctive atmosphere against the backdrop of London’s skyline. The new layout includes a casual counter and lounge area designed for diners to enjoy creative small plates and grill dishes ideal for sharing. The introduction of a resident DJ on weekends, playing Caribbean rhythms, enhances the overall venue’s vibes.

Kerth Gumbs has also launched a spring tasting menu, inspired by his childhood in Anguilla and his passion for British ingredients. The offerings comprise Torched Jerk Salmon with spring onions and yuzu ponzu sauce, Seabass with Smoked Oyster and Scotch Bonnet Emulsion, and a pre-dessert of Soursop Lolly with rum and lime gummy bear. The nine-courses culinary journey, priced at £95 per person, can be complemented with wine or creative cocktails for an additional cost.

For those seeking a more relaxed dining setting, the new counter dining option allows guests to choose from a variety of small plates and grilled dishes. This includes Cured Jerk Salmon Ceviche, Whisky BBQ Wings, and Aged Sirloin, among others.

Kerth Gumbs, with nearly two decades of experience in top kitchens around the world, joined Rhubarb Hospitality Collection’s Fenchurch Restaurant in 2023. His career has been marked by stints at notable establishments, including Ormer Mayfair and as part of the opening team for London’s first Joel Robuchon’s Atelier Restaurant. Gumbs, a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, has also appeared on BBC Two’s Great British Menu 2020, advancing to the national finals and serving as a judge on BBC Three’s Young MasterChef.

Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, now a part of Oak View Group since June 2023, is known for its luxury event catering, restaurant experiences, and venue hospitality management across London, New York City, The Hamptons, and Berlin. Their portfolio boasts iconic venues such as 22 Bishopsgate and The Royal Albert Hall, alongside international ventures in New York’s Hudson Yards and Berlin’s Frederick’s.
