“A lavish vacation turns into an absolute, horrific nightmare”: Scoot McNairy on Speak No Evil

A remake of the 2022 Danish film of the same name, Speak No Evil is a psychological thriller directed by James Watkins. The premise of this story follows a family heading off on an idyllic vacation abroad, with Ben (Scoot McNairy), his wife Louise (Mackenzie Davis) and their younger daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler) looking forward to perusing the Italian landscape and enjoying the European charm.

Their idyllic vacation starts to unravel whilst sharing a hotel with another family that seem more fun than their own. As Ben starts to compare himself to the other husband Paddy (James McAvoy) he accepts an invitation to go and visit them in their home in Dorset upon their return. Louise is reticent to visit, feeling uneasy about spending time with strangers in such close proximity, but soon settles into a week in the countryside despite her reservations. As the days roll along they soon realise all is not what it seems, and that the horrors uncovered leave them all fighting for their lives.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Scoot McNairy about taking on this role as Ben, the discourse between the families as their friendships are tested and working alongside this brilliant ensemble cast.
