Skylon unveils new pre-theatre dining menu at Royal Festival Hall

Skylon, the modern British restaurant located on the third floor of London’s Royal Festival Hall, has introduced a new pre-theatre dining menu for visitors to the South Bank. The offering, available at lunch and from 5pm to 6.30pm daily, launched last summer to cater to theatre-goers seeking an early meal before performances at nearby institutions, including the National Theatre.

The pre-theatre menu, created by head chef Pavel Kobzaruk, features a selection of three courses for £35 per person. Dishes include Cured Salmon, Cheese Soufflé, Lemon Thyme Glazed Chicken Breast, Skylon Shepherd’s Pie, and Date & Molasses Sticky Toffee Pudding. The menu is designed to provide a timely dining option for those attending evening shows, with service structured to ensure guests can dine and depart before curtain up.

Skylon’s location provides diners with panoramic views of the River Thames through floor-to-ceiling windows. The restaurant’s interior design references the mid-century modern style of the Royal Festival Hall, with contemporary elements such as bespoke chandeliers and finishes in bronze, walnut, and slate. The venue takes its name from the Skylon, an iconic structure built for the 1951 Festival of Britain, and reflects the spirit of that era.

In addition to the new pre-theatre menu, Skylon offers a variety of other dining options, including brunch and à la carte menus. The Grand Central Bar, situated within the restaurant, serves cocktails and is open for both pre- and post-theatre drinks.

The restaurant’s proximity to the National Theatre and other cultural landmarks positions it as a convenient choice for those seeking a meal or drinks before or after a show.
