Staged at the Barbican, the new adaptation of High Society is an extravagant musical that brings to life the book by Arthur Kopit, revised from the original screenplay from 1938, titled The Philadelphia Story. With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, the cast includes Helen George (Tracy Lord), Felicity Kendal (Mother Lord), Freddie Fox (Mike Connor) and Julian Ovenden (Dexter Haven) as they navigate the story of a society wedding that descends into chaos.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of attending the press night of High Society, where we spoke to Alan Carr about his love of musicals and who he would invite to a High Society party if he were to host one.

We chatted to Matthew Kelly about enjoying trips to the theatre and the brilliant cast that stars in this adaptation.

Tracy Ann Oberman chatted to us about the 1950s film adaptation of the story and how she was named after the socialite Tracy Lord. She also spoke about attending the evening in support of her dear friend Felicity Kendal, who appears in the production.

We had the chance to speak to Bobby Lockwood about his recent project starring in the second series of Rivals and how fun it was to be in a series set in a different era, much like the Golden Age of Hollywood depicted in this new musical.

Victor Hugo spoke about how much he was looking forward to seeing the musical and what he was working on next.

Stepping away from his own musical rehearsals, Tyrone Huntley spoke about his love for the genre and how much he was looking forward to seeing the ensemble cast bring this new musical to life.

Broadcaster Angela Rippon chatted to us about how much she was looking forward to seeing the show and what a brilliant cast it had gathered together to tell such a glamorous story.
