Star Wars and haute couture come together with Force 4 Fashion

In less than a month from now the world will have seen The Force Awakens, the seventh (Twilight eat your heart out) installment in the Star Wars saga. It has been 32 years since we’ve seen the galaxy far, far away of Luke, Leia, and Han and whereas we know what happened before Vader we don’t yet know what happened after Vader.

Whilst we have to wait a little bit longer to find out where the old gang ended up, there is something to look forward to in the mean time: Force 4 Fashion. Disney and Bloomingdale’s are coming together to create fashion inspired by the films. And the best part is that it’s all in the name of charity!

10 famous names in fashion such as Diane von Furstenberg, Giles Deacon, and Rag & Bone are all creating their own takes on Star Wars fashion with each designer creating an outfit. They are being helped by costume designer Michael Kaplan who worked on the new film.

The finished pieces are going to be revealed during a special Force 4 Fashion launch vent in New York on 2nd December. Afterwards, the outfits will be auctioned off on CharityBuzz.com. The proceeds of the auction will be donated to The Child Mind Institute, an organisation that is dedicated to changing mental health care for children.

Don’t fancy traveling all the way across the Atlantic? You’re in luck as London will have its very own Star Wars event: Fashion Finds the Force, where london-based designers will showcase their outfits on 26th November. Designers for the London event include Nasir, Mazhar, Agi & Sam, and Phoebe English. The designs will be part of an online auction with proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

“We’re excited to see how this incredible line-up of designers interpret Star Wars characters in unique ways, as well as to raise money for a great cause,” said Disney Consumer Products co chair, Leslie Ferraro.

We didn’t think it was possible to get more excited about the new Star Wars film but these sketches certainly do the job.
