Lee Mead joins star-studded Sister Act The Musical at Dominion Theatre

The Dominion Theatre is set to host a star-studded cast for the award-winning production of Sister Act The Musical, with Lee Mead joining as Eddie Souther starting from 10th June 2024. Alongside him, Ruth Jones will be extending her acclaimed run as Mother Superior until 3rd August 2024. The production will also continue to feature Alexandra Burke as Deloris Van Cartier, complemented by the talents of Lemar, Alison Jiear, and Carl Mullaney, who are also extending their roles.

Ruth Jones shared her enthusiasm about her role: “I’m having a crackin’ time playing Mother Superior and am not ready to hang up my habit just yet! It’s such a pleasure to be part of this uplifting production, and to see the joy it brings our audiences night after night. And I’m looking forward to welcoming Alexandra and Lee to the convent so that they can be part of it too!”

Lee Mead expressed his excitement about joining the cast: “I’m beyond thrilled to be taking over the role of Eddie in this wonderful show with such a talented cast! I can remember first seeing the show back in 2009 at the Palladium and thinking how much fun it was. Summer 2024 looks like it’s going to be an exciting one!”

The musical, which has been a hit with audiences for its humour and heartwarming message of friendship, sisterhood and music, is based on the iconic movie. It tells the story of a disco diva whose life takes an unexpected turn when she witnesses a murder and is placed in protective custody in a convent.

The production boasts a creative team led by director Bill Buckhurst, with choreography by Alistair David and musical supervision by Stephen Brooker. The musical features original music by Alan Menken, known for his work on Disney’s Aladdin and Enchanted, with lyrics by Glenn Slater.

Sister Act The Musical is a production not to be missed, promising a blend of laughter, music and heart. The show is running at the Dominion Theatre with tickets available for performances from 15th March through to 8th June 2024, before the arrival of the new cast members.
