Cafe Linea brings Modern European fare to Chelsea

Cafe Linea brings Modern European fare to Chelsea

New restaurant, bar and bakery Cafe Linea is scheduled to open its doors on 23rd June. The venue is situated within the Grade II-listed 19th century arcade in Duke of York Square, Chelsea, and aims to bring a contemporary interpretation of the European café tradition to west London. It’s the latest project from husband-and-wife team Greg and Felicity Godik, who have sought to create a space for all-day dining in a calm, design-led environment.

The interiors have been designed by Dion & Arles, a studio known for their work on sites such as the Chiltern Firehouse and Dovetale. The look incorporates the building’s original vaulted ceilings and arched alcoves, complemented by soft textures and vintage elements. The restaurant also has an alfresco terrace overlooking the square and offering outdoor seating a short distance from the King’s Road.

At the centre is a menu developed by head chef Simon Merrick (whose previous experience includes working with Richard Corrigan, Tom Sellers and Adam Handling) with chef partner Carolina Ferpozzi (who has collaborated with Fernando Trocca and Narda Lepes). The selection, available throughout the day, is described as “produce-led’, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients.

Breakfast options will feature artisanal coffee and viennoiserie (such as ham, cheese and miso allumettes, and pain au chocolat), alongside cooked breakfast dishes. Lunch and dinner will include Roasted Hake with Curried Brown Crab Sauce and Scorched Baby Gem, Chicken Liver Parfait Millefeuille and Smoked Potato with Asparagus and Tofu Mayonnaise, among many others. All baked goods are produced on site

The wine list will focus on old-world producers, with a range of sparkling and sweet wines to accompany the patisserie selection. The drinks menu will also include aperitifs, signature cocktails and digestifs.

The founders describe their vision for Cafe Linea as “a calm, design-forward space that moves effortlessly from morning light to candlelit evenings”. They hope the restaurant will serve as a venue for various occasions, from a solitary espresso to a romantic dinner on the terrace.
