New all-day restaurant and bar Canal opens in Westbourne Park

A new all-day restaurant and bar named Canal has opened in Westbourne Park. The venue, which began operations this week, is the latest venture from the team behind Crispin and Bistro Freddie. Canal is also the first offering from Quality Projects, a newly launched hospitality consultancy founded by Dominic Hamdy (also of the HAM Restaurant Group). The restaurant is located on the Grand Union Canal and is part of the new Mason & Fifth development.

Canal’s menu features a bistro-style selection of dishes with a focus on seasonal ingredients and sharing plates. Among the offerings are crab doughnuts, bream crudo with cherry and chilli, ricotta tortelli with lemon and parmesan, and a cheeseburger listed as The Table Cheeseburger. Larger dishes include whole brill served with bouillabaisse sauce and ex-dairy ribeye accompanied by bone marrow sauce. The drinks menu includes cocktails on tap developed in partnership with A Bar with Shapes for a Name, an East London-based bar known for its experimental approach. Available cocktails include a Brown Butter Old Fashioned, a Rhubarb Gimlet and a Manhattan Oil Negroni.

The venue features a spacious waterside terrace designed to offer a relaxed dining atmosphere, and adds to the growing number of dining options in Westbourne Park. It also reflects a broader trend in London’s hospitality industry towards multi-functional spaces that combine food, drink and lifestyle components.
