Orient Express to launch world’s largest sailing yacht for luxury Caribbean cruises in 2026

Orient Express has announced that its new luxury sailing yacht, the Orient Express Corinthian, will begin its inaugural Caribbean season in autumn 2026. The vessel, described as the world’s largest sailing yacht, will depart from Lisbon on 12th October for a 14-night transatlantic voyage to Barbados. The season, which will run until March 2027, will include a series of short cruises ranging from two to nine nights, exploring a variety of destinations across the Caribbean.

The brand has roots dating back to 1883. Though it is famed for its opulent rail travel, this new launch marks their first foray into maritime travel. The ship is the first of two sailing yachts being developed, with the second, Orient Express Olympian, scheduled to launch in 2027. Both vessels will utilise SolidSail propulsion technology – a system involving three rigid sails mounted on 100-metre-high tilting masts, designed to enable up to 100% wind-powered navigation under favourable conditions. The Corinthian has 54 suites, ranging in size from 485 to 2,476 square feet, all outfitted with large windows or terraces and interiors designed by Maxime d’Angeac, artistic director at Orient Express, who drew inspiration from the golden age of rail travel and classic ocean liners such as the SS Normandie. French artisans were commissioned to craft many of the ship’s furnishings and decorative elements.

The Caribbean itinerary includes stops at locations such as Saint Barthélemy, Moskito Island, the Exumas and the Tobago Cays. According to the company, the journeys will focus on wellness and offer access to remote natural areas, coral reefs and less-visited inlets, as well as onboard programming that includes culinary experiences with local ingredients, guided excursions and cultural activities. Luxury dining will be overseen by Yannick Alléno, a multi-Michelin-starred culinary expert who also serves as executive chef for the group’s train and sailing yachts. Facilities on board include five restaurants, a cabaret with seating for 115 guests, a recording studio, two pools and a marina.
