“I get to have an adventure myself”: Yvette Nicole Brown on Shape Island season two

This second season of Shape Island is based on the picture book trilogy Shapes by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen, who also serve as executive producers on this Apple TV+ series. Featuring eight brand new episodes, this exciting stop-motion animation takes young viewers and families on an imaginative and adventurous journey.

The story takes place on a beautiful island filled with nature and bountiful scenes of flora and fauna, and follows three characters voiced by actors called Circle (Gideon Adlon), Triangle (Scott Adsit) and Square (Harvey Guillén). With very different outlooks and personalities, the friends navigate their differences to live in harmony and enjoy the many exciting escapades that happen through the series, as well as meeting new characters that join in.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Yvette Nicole Brown about her recurring role as the series narrator, what it was like to create that authentic and joyful energy as the storyteller and what she hopes viewers will take away from watching this new series.
