Swiped is a biopic drama based on Whitney Wolfe Herd, the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, who made her fortune after launching the online dating app, Bumble. Immersed in the male-dominated tech industry, the film pitches itself as a glowing report of female empowerment as we see Wolfe rise up the ranks from college graduate to company CEO.

Taking on both the lead role and a seat as the producer, Lily James stars as Wolfe, dramatising her journey from college graduate to becoming instrumental in the development of Tinder before launching her own dating app called Bumble, developed with the intention of creating a safer space for female users.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to James about taking on this script, what she wanted viewers to take away, and her own journey coming on board to produce the feature, too.

Dan Stevens spoke to us about working once again alongside James after starring with her in Downton Abbey, his own thoughts about dating apps and that he hopes viewers will see it as a film about female empowerment.

Myha’la chatted to us about being part of this film, about female presence in the male-dominated tech space, working with a great ensemble cast and her own thoughts about dating apps.

We spoke to Bill Parker and Rachel Lee Goldenberg about bringing this story about Wolfe to screen, how they delved into the search to make it an authentic dramatisation and how lucky they felt with their casting choices.

Ana Yi Puig reflected on her character’s ambitions, the supportive cast, and the challenges of filming, hoping viewers feel empowered to advocate for themselves.
