UK-based vegan charity Viva! has launched a new cookbook titled A Very Vegan Christmas: The Ultimate Guide to a Magical Festive Feast. Released in early September 2025 and aimed at vegan cooks or those with vegan guests, the booklet offers a collection of plant-based recipes designed to help with preparing vegan meals for the holiday season. It can be purchased via the charity’s website, and they have also made it available for download.

A Very Vegan Christmas features a variety of seasonal dishes, accompanied by full-colour photography, providing alternatives to traditional Christmas fare with options suitable for starters, mains, desserts and festive drinks. The initiative comes at a time of growing interest in plant-based diets in the UK, with recent surveys indicating a rise in the number of people reducing or eliminating animal products from their meals. A spokesperson for the charity explains the publication was created with this increasing demand in mind. “We wanted to produce something that would make it easier for people to enjoy a compassionate and delicious Christmas, whether they’re lifelong vegans or just trying something new,” they said.

According to Viva!, the mini cookbook is intended to help demystify plant-based cooking and make it more accessible for a wider audience. The organisation also aims to support families and hosts accommodating vegan guests, particularly during a time of year that often centres around food and shared meals. In addition to the recipe collection, there is guidance on how to navigate common challenges, such as practical tips on avoiding cross-contamination in the kitchen and advice for responding to questions about plant-based lifestyles that may arise during gatherings.

The release of A Very Vegan Christmas follows a broader trend of seasonal plant-based offerings from both charities and food brands. With the festive period typically being a time of high meat consumption, the booklet is part of ongoing efforts to encourage more sustainable and ethical food choices.
