Nobu Hotel London Portman Square celebrates Frieze art fair with John Atkin exhibition and culinary events

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square will mark this year’s Frieze art fair with a series of art and culinary events at its Marylebone location, including an exhibition, a themed afternoon tea and a catering pop-up. Frieze London and Frieze Masters are among the most prominent contemporary and historical art fairs globally, attracting collectors, curators and artists from around the world, and Nobu’s involvement adds a culinary dimension to the calendar, blending food and art in a high-end setting.

The hotel’s programme features an exclusive exhibition of British artist John Atkin’s work, curated by Gesture Gallery and displayed in The White Box, Nobu’s on-site gallery space. Atkin, a multidisciplinary artist with more than 30 large-scale public commissions worldwide, presents his work to a central London audience for a limited time with a mix of wall-based pieces and freestanding sculptures, reflecting his interest in material, form and architectural influence. Gesture Gallery, which curated the exhibition, was founded to help artists reach wider international audiences.

To coincide with the exhibition, Nobu Hotel will offer a special Frieze Edition Afternoon Tea, inspired by Atkin’s sculpture Nomad. The menu includes a dessert designed for the occasion – the Nomad Grapefruit and Passion Fruit Delight, which draws on the form and texture of the artwork. The tea also features savoury items such as the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Sushi House Roll, Smoked Salmon Shokupan Club, Truffle Tamago and a Nobu-Style Wagyu Slider.

Meanwhile, from 15th to 19th October, the hotel will also operate a catering pop-up at Frieze Masters 2025 in Regent’s Park, offering visitors a curated menu of signature dishes and drinks. According to organisers, the service aims to provide “bespoke hospitality” to attendees of the event.
