Sabrina Ghayour to headline relaunch of Galvin Book Club in Essex after five-year hiatus

The Galvin Book Club will return this October after a five-year hiatus, with a special event hosted at the Galvin Green Man in Great Waltham, Chelmsford. The relaunch will feature best-selling cookbook author Sabrina Ghayour as the guest of honour, offering attendees the opportunity to engage in a culinary-themed afternoon that includes a two-course lunch, a book signing and a Q&A session. Ghayour, whose work celebrates Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine, will join the Galvin team for a menu inspired by her signature dishes. Attendees will also receive a signed copy of her cookbook, Persiana Easy, as well as a welcome drink. Tickets are priced at £69 per person.

The Galvin Green Man, where the event will take place, is part of a group founded by Michelin-starred brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin that operates a range of dining establishments that focus on seasonal ingredients and local sourcing. According to the team, “The menus are thoughtfully crafted around the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from trusted local farmers, fishmongers, and skilled suppliers – many of whom the brothers have worked with for years.” Sustainability is a stated priority, with efforts including mindful sourcing, waste reduction and the use of low-intervention wines.

The opening occasion on 21st October marks the revival of a series that previously became a fixture in Essex and London’s food and literary scene. Past editions have welcomed well-known chefs and authors such as Jeremy Lee, Michel Roux, Tom Kerridge and Mark Hix, and the 2025 edition continues this tradition, bringing together food enthusiasts and readers in a setting that combines literature and gastronomy. The return of the Galvin Book Club not only signals a renewed focus on literary and culinary collaboration but also reflects a broader interest in events that blend culture with dining. With Ghayour’s participation, the October gathering is expected to attract both food lovers and readers from across the region.
