Kricket Shoreditch launches breakfast thali for Diwali with free meals for early birds

Kricket Shoreditch, of the modern Indian restaurant group, will launch a new £15 tasting-style Breakfast Thali this October to coincide with Diwali. The new offering will be available at the restaurant’s East London location, with the first 30 ordered each day between 20th and 31st October given free of charge (whether patrons book or walk in). The initiative encourages Londoners to explore alternative breakfast options and celebrate the Hindu festival of lights.

The Breakfast Thali includes a curated selection of items from Kricket’s existing breakfast range, aiming to provide a diverse and flavourful morning meal. Diners can choose from a variety of fillings for a soft Indian bread roll known as pao, including crispy bacon with tomato chutney, Goan sausage with salli potatoes, or a fried egg. These are accompanied by Eggs Bhurji (spiced scrambled eggs), Andhra-style Hash Browns, grilled mushrooms, tamarind brown chutney and Chole (a spiced chickpea dish). The meal concludes with a serving of Vanilla shrikhand – a traditional yoghurt-based dish from Gujarati and Marathi cuisines – paired with granola, blackberries and seasonal fruit salad. Each thali* also includes a cup of Kricket’s house-brewed Masala Chai.

Will Bowlby, co-founder and executive chef of Kricket, said: “We’re passionate about our breakfast menu, but it’s hard to convince people to change their routine. The Breakfast Thali solves that; it’s the best way to try everything in one sitting. It lets the food do the talking, and once people get a proper taste of the variety here, we know they’ll be back.”

The Breakfast Thali will be served from 8am on weekdays and from 9am on weekends as a permanent addition to the Shoreditch menu following its launch.
