Indian restaurant Kokum and local butchers Flock & Herd have joined forces to mark National Sausage Week with a limited-edition menu that fuses British butchery with South Indian flavours, while adding a dash of good will. At Kokum’s East Dulwich location, a special menu featuring the collborative creations will be offered between 27th October and 2nd November, with the Bombay Banger also on sale at the butcher’s Peckham branch in the same week, where all proceeds will go to charity.

The Bombay Banger is a handmade pork sausage infused with Chettinad masala – a South Indian spice blend known for its bold use of cumin, coriander and cloves – developed jointly by Kokum’s chefs and the team at Flock & Herd. It features in three dishes at the restaurant available exclusively during National Sausage Week, including a Grilled Bombay Banger served with masala-spiced wedges and Indian mayo, an Indian Sausage Roll with tandoori-spiced ketchup, and a Sausage Seekh Kebab, skewered and cooked over charcoal in a tandoor, accompanied by a mint and coriander chutney. The Bombay Banger will also be available for purchase at Flock & Herd’s shop on Bellenden Road, priced at £14.99 per kilogram, with all income from retail sales going to Southwark Food Bank to support local families in need.

“National Sausage Week felt like the perfect opportunity to bring together two very different culinary traditions,” says the team at Kokum. “We wanted to see what would happen if we took the classic British sausage and reimagined it through the lens of South Indian cooking.”
