Copenhagen chef Bo Bech to collaborate with Cycene’s Taz Sarhane for exclusive Shoreditch dining event

Copenhagen-based chef Bo Bech will join forces with Taz Sarhane of Michelin-starred restaurant Cycene for a one-day collaborative culinary event on 9th November at Blue Mountain School, the creative space in Shoreditch that Cycene calls home. The meal will be served over two sittings – lunch from noon to 4pm and dinner from 7pm – and will cost £250 per person, including a welcome glass of English sparkling wine. The exclusive occasion will offer just 16 seats per service, providing guests with a rare opportunity to experience a joint menu crafted by the two chefs.

With over three decades of culinary experience, Bech, who owns Bobe in Copenhagen, is recognised for his minimalist yet expressive cooking style, influenced by his Danish heritage and the historical setting of his restaurant, which is housed in a protected building dating back to 1731. He is highly regarded in the Nordic culinary scene, having previously operated acclaimed restaurant Geist in Copenhagen before opening his current establishment. Sarhane, head chef at Cycene, grew up in South East London with English-Moroccan roots, and draws inspiration from North African markets, foraging and communal eating traditions. He took over the kitchen in 2023, where he has developed a reputation for dishes that are both exacting and personal, often informed by his multicultural background.

According to organisers, the menu will reflect a blend of both chefs’ approaches, resulting in a culinary offering of “playful precision”. The collaboration is intended to highlight the chefs’ shared respect for produce and craftsmanship, as one of the first high-profile guest events at the venue. Cycene, which opened in 2022, earned its first Michelin star in 2023, and is known for its multi-course tasting menus served in a domestic-style setting.
