Layla bakery launches limited-edition pumpkin and maple tart for Thanksgiving weekend in West London

West London bakery Layla are marking the Thanksgiving weekend with a limited-edition seasonal dessert, available from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th November. They’re serving a Delica Pumpkin & Maple Syrup Tart to coincide with the American holiday, made with artisanal maple syrup and featuring a milk chocolate ganache and stem ginger topping. It will be available for purchase at Layla’s original site on Portobello Road (open daily from 8am to 4pm), as well as its recently opened second branch on Churchfield Road in Acton (Wednesday to Sunday from 7.30am to 3pm).

Layla was founded during the COVID-19 lockdown by Tessa Faulkner, who aimed to create a bakery that served the local community with a focus on quality and craftsmanship. It has since become known for its handmade breads, pastries and sweet goods, leading to the opening of a second location. According to the brand’s website, the name “Layla” derives from the Arabic word for night and reflects the early hours in which the their products are prepared.

The seasonal creation foregrounds Sirop maple syrup, a single-forest syrup sourced from Québec that’s also stocked at both branches. The bakery explain the syrup stands out from mass-market alternatives in that it is not processed with additives or thinning agents. “Sirop stays true to what maple syrup is supposed to be,” they said.
