Michel and Emily Roux to reunite for festive culinary collaboration at Caractère in Notting Hill

Michel and Emily Roux will reunite in the kitchen this holiday season for a limited-run culinary event at Caractère, the Michelin-starred restaurant in Notting Hill. The father-daughter duo, joined by Emily’s husband and co-owner Diego Ferrari, will present a four-course festive menu as part of the third annual Roux Family Christmas. The collaboration, which brings together elements from both London venues, will be available for lunch and dinner on selected dates this December and January.

The event marks a rare professional partnership between Michel and his daughter, who represents the third generation of the celebrated Roux culinary dynasty. Caractère, which opened in 2018, blends French and Italian influences, reflecting both Emily and Diego’s culinary backgrounds. This year’s festive selection will feature a mix of classics from Roux père and new dishes in keeping with Caractère’s contemporary approach. It begins with canapés and sparkling wine, followed by Orkney scallops with leeks and crispy Iberico ham. The second course brings roast wild sea bream with celeriac, trout and herring roe and beurre blanc, then there’s a main course of Stuffed Bronze Turkey Breast with black winter truffle and Madeira jus. Finally, a Warm Chocolate Mousse with Morello cherries and pistachio praline provides a sweet conclusion. An optional cheese course of Brie de Meaux with black truffle is offered for an additional £20 per person, and petits fours and coffee round off the meal.

Wine pairings curated by Caractère’s sommelier Marco Nardi will be available for an additional £90 per person. The selection focuses on French and Italian wines produced with minimal intervention and an emphasis on terroir. The front-of-house team will also include familiar faces from Le Gavroche’s former team: twins Ursula and Silvia Peberschlager, long-time members of the Roux restaurant team, who explain the aims is to celebrate both family and culinary heritage.

The full experience is priced at £195 per person, which includes canapés, the four-course menu, coffee a festive goodie bag.
