Michelangelo Mammoliti earns third Michelin star for La Rei Natura just two years after opening

Michelangelo Mammoliti, chef at La Rei Natura in Il Boscareto Resort & Spa in Serralunga d’Alba, Piedmont, has been awarded a third Michelin star. The accolade was granted just 26 months after the restaurant’s opening, marking a rare and notable achievement in the Italian fine dining scene and placing La Rei Natura firmly among the most prestigious culinary establishments in the country.

The new star was awarded in recognition of an innovative approach to cuisine, which combines elements of neurogastronomy, sustainability and regional influences from the Langhe area. In addition to this latest success, the restaurant has also ranked 12th globally in the We’re Smart Guide, which evaluates restaurants for their use of plant-based ingredients and ecological practices, retaining its top rating of five radishes earned in 2023.

La Rei Natura’s menu features reinterpretations of local dishes, such as a vegetarian version of the traditional Albese, replacing raw meat with Capriglio pepper, walnuts and anchovies. The space has been curated by interior designer Stefano Guidotti, and includes a 200-square-metre greenhouse, which visitors can access to learn more about the ingredients and the surrounding landscape.

“When I accepted this new adventure, I set myself, as always, just one goal: to give my best,” said Mammoliti. “I didn’t expect, however, to reach three Michelin stars, and certainly not in such a short time. When they called my name on stage, I was in disbelief: I had dreamed for years of wearing the white jacket with the three red macaron. Today I can say I made it. This achievement is not mine alone: it belongs to the kitchen and dining room brigade, to whom I extend my greatest thanks, because they believed in the La Rei Natura project as much as I did.”

Valentina Dogliani, speaking on behalf of her family, the owners of Il Boscareto Resort, added: “With the La Rei Natura project we wanted to leave a mark on contemporary gastronomy, both Italian and international. The recognition obtained today allows us to say, with pride, that this goal has been achieved. I thank chef Michelangelo, whom we chose to support from the beginning with great conviction, and all the kitchen and dining room teams. The third Star is the result of their daily work. Today is truly a special day for us.”
