Secret Sandwich Shop brings Japanese-inspired sandos and matcha drinks to Harvey Nicks

On 13th December, London-based eatery Secret Sandwich Shop launched its second venue inside Harvey Nichols’s flagship store in Knightsbridge. The new location brings the company’s distinctive Japanese-inspired sandwiches – commonly known as sandos – to the luxury department store, alongside a newly introduced matcha drinks menu and a cocktail offering influenced by Japanese flavours and techniques.
The expansion marks a significant step for the brand, which first opened in Notting Hill and has since gained a reputation for its visually striking and flavourful multi-storey sandwiches. The new branch will feature signature items, including The Hungry Dane, 7th Avenue and McLovin, with additional monthly specials exclusive to the location. Kate Phelan, creative director at Harvey Nichols, enthused: “Secret Sandwich Shop has fast become one of London’s most talked about lunch spots and we are pleased to announce its second site launch at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge – just in time for the festive season.”
The eatery draws inspiration from Japan’s Wanpaku sandwiches, which are celebrated for their colourful, layered presentation and use of fresh, seasonal ingredients. They are made using shokupan, a soft Japanese milk bread, and are designed to showcase the quality of each component. Founder Robie Uniacke said, “Launching at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge marks an exciting new chapter for Secret Sandwich Shop and we’re delighted to be part of such an iconic destination.”
