Sessions Arts Club launches The Sunday Sessions with weekly long lunches and chef residencies

Sessions Arts Club, the restaurant housed in a Grade II-listed building on Clerkenwell Green, has announced the launch of a new Sunday residency programme. Beginning on 1st February, the venue will open its doors on Sundays for the first time, introducing a series of weekly long lunches and seasonal chef collaborations. The initiative is designed to create a relaxed, communal dining experience and will feature both in-house menus and guest chef takeovers throughout the year.

The Sunday Residency Programme will commence the following week with a one-day takeover by Jago Rackham, a London-based cook and food writer recognised for his inventive approach to traditional cuisine. Rackham’s menu for the event has not yet been fully disclosed, but it is expected to include dishes such as Blood Orange, Almond & Ricotta Salata, pies such as Beef and Prune and Langoustine and Mackerel, and St Agata Cake. The event coincides with the forthcoming publication of Rackham’s debut book, To Entertain, which is scheduled for release in April by Robinson (an imprint of Little, Brown).

Further guest chef showcases are planned for the coming months. On 22nd February, Adam Byatt of Trinity will collaborate with Sessions Arts Club for The Great Roast, a one-day event centred on classic British dishes such as prawn cocktail, a crown of beef with Yorkshire puddings, sticky toffee pudding and Stichelton Cheese with Medlar. The event is described as a “theatrical, room-led experience”, with beef carved in the dining room and served with Guinness gravy.

The new Sunday offering, titled The Sunday Sessions, will be led by head chef Fenella. The menu is described as being rooted in seasonality and simplicity, with a focus on classic, non-sharing Sunday lunches. Sample dishes include Duck Liver, Orange & Tarragon, Crab, Aioli & Sourdough, Shoulder of Lamb, Beef Fat Potatoes and desserts such as Rhubarb Trifle and Chocolate, Prune and Armagnac. According to the organisers, the aim is to create an atmosphere where “long lunches blur into dusk, conversations stretch across the room, and the house reveals a softer, more generous rhythm”.
