A new restaurant, Tower House, has opened its doors on Richmond’s riverside, aiming to provide locals with modern Mediterranean cuisine in a distinctive historic setting within a converted mid-19th-century home with a clock tower. The venue on Bridge Street began welcoming guests in November and is the latest project from the team behind Notting Hill’s Gold. Executive chef Theo Hill leads the kitchen, with a menu focused on seasonal produce and dishes designed for sharing.

The restaurant’s home carries architectural significance, with the clock tower said to pay homage to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s coastal residence. The main dining room is located in a glass garden room, surrounded by trees and plants, and opens onto a riverside garden with views of the Thames, Richmond Bridge and Twickenham Bridge. The design, overseen by founder Nick House in collaboration with Tibbats Abbel architects, Studio Duggan for interiors and Rosebank, who created the landscape gardening, incorporates heirloom collectibles and crafted objects. Artisans from Marrakesh, Bali, Dorset and London have contributed to the venue’s brass details, bamboo benches and steel features.

Chef Theo Hill, who also oversees the kitchen at Gold, has crafted a menu that highlights simplicity and seasonality. “We simply wish to show as much consideration as we possibly can towards the best produce available. The aim is always to cook with fire in an unforced and harmonious way, which allows the ingredients to speak for themselves,” he said. Dishes include Prawn Agnolotti with Vermouth and Fennel, Burnt Luek with Romesco Sauce, Wood-roasted Turbot, Roasted Scarlet Prawns and Veal T-bone Steak with Tarragon and Anchovy Butter. Vegetarian options such as Roasted Cauliflower with Tarragon Dressing are also featured, and the menu will change with the seasons.

The drinks list has a selection of classic and seasonal cocktails, such as the Earth & Ember (Johnnie Walker Black Ruby, ginger, burnt beetroot) and a brown butter and sage mini martini. The wine list emphasises minimal-intervention wines.

The opening comes amid a trend of suburban Londoners seeking high-quality, chef-led dining experiences closer to home. The restaurant is now taking bookings via its website.
