The Royal Horseguards Hotel in Westminster is reopening its outdoor summer terrace next week, offering alfresco dining and drinks alongside views of the London Eye from its location next to Whitehall Gardens.

The terrace, at the hotel’s address on Whitehall Court, will operate daily this summer from noon till 10pm. The space sits adjacent to Whitehall Gardens, near the Thames, and forms part of a hotel with a history stretching back to notable guests including Winston Churchill and Lloyd George.

For the 2026 season, the terrace has a fresh new atmosphere and menu, placing an emphasis on seasonal British ingredients alongside a broader selection of international dishes. The outdoor space features wicker seating, throws and greenery, drawing on its historical heritage whlie offering a contemporary alfresco setting. It’s also dog-friendly, permitting well-behaved pooches to accompany their owners throughout the summer in style.

The updated food menu spans several courses. For starters, dishes include Oak Smoked Salmon, Burrata with Heritage Beetroot and Crispy Squid. Main courses range from traditional British options such as Chicken, Ham Hock & Leek Pie and Beer-Battered Fish & Chips to lighter alternatives including Superfood Quinoa Salad and Pan-Fried Salmon. Among the desserts are a traditional Raspberry Eton Mess and Blueberry Cheesecake.

The drinks menu presents a selection of summer cocktails such as The Terrace Spritz, made with Beefeater 24 gin, elderflower tonic, cloudy apple juice and mint. The Raspberry Fizzante combines Belvedere vodka, cranberry juice, sparkling wine and raspberries, and The Pimm’s Spritz features Pimm’s, sparkling wine, lemon tonic, strawberries and cucumber. A curated selection of wines, beers and spirits is also available.
