The Athenaeum Hotel unveils intimate cocktail masterclass experience in Mayfair

A five-star Mayfair hotel has introduced a cocktail masterclass programme, offering small groups the opportunity to learn the craft of mixology within the bar of one of central London’s most established addresses.

The Athenaeum Hotel, located on Piccadilly opposite Green Park, is running the 90-minute sessions for groups of between two and four people, priced at £75 per person. Each session opens with an introduction to cocktail history before participants are guided through the preparation of three drinks: a dry martini, a New Era cocktail and one of The Athenaeum’s own signature serves. The format is designed to be hands-on rather than purely observational, with participants actively making each cocktail rather than just watching a demonstration. And there’s an English grazing platter (with both meat and vegetarian options available) to top off the experience!

The masterclass is held in the bar at The Athenaeum, a longstanding fixture on Piccadilly that’s known for its Art Deco heritage, a distinctive living wall and its outlook across Green Park. The hotel holds a five-star rating and puts food and drink at the core of its guest experience.

The Mayfair location has seen a number of hotels and bars introduce cocktail and drinks education sessions in recent years as consumer interest in mixology has grown. The Athenaeum’s masterclass format – with snacks and a very intimate group size – makes it perfect for date nights, small celebrations or groups looking for an alternative to a trip to the pub.
